The Schleiffen Plan
It was formulated by Field Marshal Alfred von Schlieffen in 1905/6. German historians have blamed its poor results on the man who implemented it, Helmuth von Moltke, who was fired from his position as Chief of the German General Staff after the Battle of the Marne.
