The music I’m compiling here is taken from all of the courses I teach, and is all music that I have argued matters to our understanding of the history. This is, after all, a small compilation of music that mattered in the confines (Ta-Nehisi Coates would call it a jail, right?) of our twentieth century history classroom, but my hope was always that it reflected themes that had mattered in the twentieth century.
